Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends. It is also a time to give back to those who are less fortunate. I belong to the Del Mar/Solana Beach Lions Club. http://www.e-clubhouse.org/sites/delsol/index.php For Thanksgiving, the Del Sol Lions Club Donated $500 to support a small apartment complex located in Solana Beach. I am the only one in the club who speaks Spanish, so I decided to volunteer for the project. I personally went to the apartment complex with Craig Garcia (another Lions Club member) to ask each resident what their needs were. We were able to buy close to 1000 pounds of food for the residents. We collected clothes, shoes, and food. We assembled boxes suited for each individual family. The delivery was made Saturday following Thanksgiving. Everyone at the apartment complex was very thankful. I felt good knowing I made a difference in the community.    |
